MUDLANDS

About the Region. The Rumbling Mudlands lies to the southeast of Zolkron Valley. The last outpost of civilization before entering the acid lake riddled desert of Anilorac Thron to the south. It’s a rugged frontier region built around mud-related industries, like dredging, excavating, and just generally slopping the stuff around.

The terrain features swampy lowlands, contaminated by magic and industry, running between massive winding mounds of mud, up to 100 feet tall. Too slippery for most to climb, travel between the mounds is done by way of tunnels and passageways burrowed into the clay. Effective interregional travel in and out of the Mudlands requires something with tank treads or wings

Most architecture you find here is utilitarian, industrial, prefab, and on the verge of corrosion. Soldiers, workers, and merchants shelter in tent-like metal domes of varying sizes embedded into the sloppy hillsides.     

Inhabitants. With their organization and penchant for working the earth, dwarves play a prominent role in the area. Humans, knuckle-draggers, and waistoids help with the heavy lifting. You will find occasional bugbears, goblins, orcs, and skurjs in the caves, tunnels, and surrounding areas. There is not a lot of wildlife evident, until something prehistoric and hideous bursts through the ground and scarfs down some workers at a dredge site.
